She was born in the Hurricane

Okay, let me start off with saying that I was not born in a hurricane, but maybe the complete opposite.

I was born in July and live 45 minutes from Chicago, so never in our wildest dreams would we experience a hurricane. Ever.

My name is Mel and at 20 years old
I haven't quite figured out life, but who has? I just started my junior year at SIU, and even though we're only a week into the semester, I'm scared shitless.

Being a junior just means I'm one year closer to being a senior, and then one year closer to graduating and getting thrown into the real world. Like what happened to staying out until 4am Friday night sipping on whatever came your way and not caring where you'd wake up? And knowing you'll push off all homework until Sunday at midnight and showing up to class late Monday just because "I'm not feeling it". Who wants to leave that? Because I know I don't. What I would give to go back to freshman year, damn.

It's so scary that I can clearly remember three years ago crying my eyes out in every single room of my house because I was so scared and sad to leave for college, scared to grow up and leave home. And now I'm a junior? What?

Let me tell you that week past and I got over all my emotions and fell in love with college. The first is always the worst. And still to this day I cry every time I leave home, but maybe that's just me.

SO, with that being said, life is a journey, it's crazy, hectic, heartbreaking, scary, breathtaking, it's everything and anything and all we can do is keep going. Even when nothing is going right and it seems like your life is falling apart, kind of like you were born in a hurricane.
